Crypto exchange Bybit says it fully replenished reserves after record $1.5 billion hack
Bybit replenished its reserves after a $1.5 billion hack, the largest in crypto history, by securing 447,000 ether through emergency funding from firms like Galaxy Digital and FalconX. The breach occurred during a routine transfer from a cold wallet to a warm wallet, allowing hackers to intercept funds. Blockchain firm Elliptic linked the attack to North Korea’s Lazarus Group, which dispersed the stolen crypto across multiple wallets. While Bybit remains solvent with fully backed client assets, only 14.5% of the funds have been moved. The exchange has offered a 10% bounty, but recovery remains uncertain.
